A Man of Intellect and Generosity

S. Frank Blocker, Jr., was a man of intellect, charm, wealth and generosity. A Norfolk native, his family established Eastern Auto Distributors and he continued to build the business to even greater success. His business acumen extended to the financial markets and a wide array of entrepreneurial activities, enabling him to financially contribute to a varied and disparate range of organizations, from Virginian Weslyan University to the YMCA of South Hampton Roads, to a host of non-profits across Virginia.

Norfolk native, Frank Blocker, was a man of intellect, charm, wealth and generosity.
Frank Blocker’s interest in his community extended beyond financial commitment, to active service on the Board of Directors of Virginia Wesleyan University and as Board Chairman for the Norfolk YMCA. He also served as chair of the YMCA's endowment committee for many years. The Norfolk YMCA was later renamed the Blocker Norfolk Family YMCA in recognition of his generous contributions over several decades.
Although he passed away in 2020, at the age of 93, Mr. Blocker’s altruism continues through The Blocker Foundation, formed in 1982. The Foundation carries on Frank Blocker’s support of numerous nonprofit organizations that promote and support a safe, healthy, inclusive community for all the residents of Hampton Roads.
