If an organization would like to submit a proposal but it does not have its 501(c)(3) in place, should the group submit its proposal?

Applicants must be a nonprofit organization classified as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

I’m interested in applying for a grant. What does The Blocker Foundation fund?

It is the mission of The Blocker Foundation to inspire, empower and support the Hampton Roads community to provide all in our community wholesome nourishment, safe shelter, educational opportunity, economic opportunity and a healthy environment in which all may thrive. If your program, project or overall organization falls under any of these focus areas we would be interested in learning more about you.

When do you accept grant applications during the year?

We accept applications in March and September of each year. Applications are due by 2pm on March 1 and September 1.

Do you require a consultation with potential grantees?

We highly encourage grantees to call us at 757-942-2005 prior to submitting an application.

Will you consider grants that are longer than one year in duration?

We will consider grant requests for a term of no less than 12 months but not exceeding a period of 5 years. The timeline of the request should match the proposed project and be justifiable through the submission of a workplan.

Is there a limit as to the funding we can request?

We do not provide a limit as to the amount of funding that you request though we highly encourage you to understand the funding capacity and service area of our Foundation.
